An image converter is a tool that changes an image from one file format to another — for example, turning a PNG screenshot into a JPG for sharing. FreeToolsKit's converter re-encodes your images on a canvas inside your browser, one at a time or in batches of up to 20, without changing their pixel dimensions. Your files never leave your device — conversion happens in your browser, not on a server.
How do you convert an image?
- Drag and drop your images onto the panel, or click to browse for them — up to 20 at a time, 50 MB each.
- Choose the output format under “Convert to”: PNG, JPG or WebP.
- For JPG or WebP, set the quality slider — 90 keeps photos looking the same while shrinking the file.
- Wait a moment while each image converts; its before and after sizes appear beside its name.
- Download files one at a time, or press “Download all (ZIP)” for the whole batch.
- Press “Reset” to clear the list, or “Add more images” to convert another batch.
What is the Image Converter used for?
- Turning a PNG screenshot into a JPG so it can be attached to an email or form.
- Converting a folder of JPG photos to WebP so a website loads faster.
- Changing a WebP image downloaded from the web into a PNG for editing.
- Preparing a batch of product photos in one consistent format for an online shop.
- Converting a BMP scan into a JPG that can be shared in a chat app.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens on a canvas inside your browser, on your own device. Your images are never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone — conversion keeps working even if you go offline after the page loads.
Is this image converter free?
Yes — free, with no sign-up. You can convert images one at a time or in batches of up to 20, and download the results without charge.
What happens to transparent backgrounds when I convert to JPG?
JPEG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled white in the JPG output. Choose PNG or WebP output instead if your image needs its transparency preserved.
What happens to an animated GIF?
The converter draws the image on a canvas, which captures only the first frame — so an animated GIF becomes a still image in the output format. Animation is not preserved.
What are the file limits?
You can add up to 20 images at a time, each up to 50 MB, in JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or AVIF format. Files over 50 MB or in an unsupported format are flagged with a plain message while the rest of the batch still converts.
